Watercolor - Family Trees
Watercolor paintings for family trees and pedigree charts
Family trees in watercolor technique are some of our most popular artworks. In the first two to three years after the company was founded, we largely only had pencil drawings in our repertoire. However, there is a reason for this: watercolor paints provide the perfect technical basis for very fine illustrations. With family trees painted with watercolors, a very versatile editing is possible. Both glazing areas and opaque areas can be realized with the colors without any problems.

Due to the paint properties, the brush tip has an extremely thin application of paint. Watercolor paint does not “stick” to the brush. The smallest blossoms or branches can be displayed very realistically. Color drips or streaks cannot form either.
Family trees with watercolors are preferable for colored illustrations on all smaller formats. Only for oversized projects with a width of at least 100cm is a canvas on a stretcher frame absolutely necessary, which requires working with acrylic paints. Watercolor paint can appear blotchy on larger, solid areas.

In the case of family trees and pedigrees painted with watercolors, we now also regularly offer a less colorful alternative. Here, the treetop and the trunk are black and white, while secondary elements and/or the nameplates are subtly colored.
